I am living in Spain so not directly involved with Brexit. But 40 years involvement in European trade gives me a good insight in what’s happening in Brussels. I also investigated the size of the British agrar industry. The largest in Europe.
Cars made in Britain for Asian brands have the highest quality standard in Europe. The manufacturers would be mad to transfer the production to Belgium or Eastern Europe. They would have to supply a mechanic and toolbox with each car.
Watched Gordon Brown on Good Morning Brittain. He must have gone senile or did not do his homework. Scaremongering he stated that in case of a Hard-Brexit Britain would have a shortage of fruit and vegetables. As most of them are imported. He has not been in a supermarket lately, most of the veggies are British. The UK farms have no problem feeding the British people and also a part of Europe. And they could give Trump free Carrots every month so he can see better.
Prices? I live in a country where food prices are the lowest in Europe, however, returning to England after 6 months it hit me how cheep vegetables are. Ad 10% scaremongering rise, they still would be cheaper than Spain. Don’t know where Brown got his figures from, he and his sources are lying. No European company will stop trading with the UK and they all are already working with plan B. The German automotive industry will exedite Angela Merkel when she makes trading with the UK difficult. And in my beloved Costa del Sol? Although there are only 300.000 expats, half the catering staff would be jobless if the Brits would have to go home. They would march on Madrid and make Jamie Oliver president of Spain. πͺπΈπ
