This is what I found in the UK press.

I’m a musician, not as famous as Brian, but love the idea to improve the look of my environment. And I, 82, dont look as good as Brian.

“Queen guitarist Brian May faced a dispute with the Elstead Parish Council after his plan to plant additional daffodils on the village’s main green was rejected on safety grounds in April 2026.
Initial Success: In October 2025, May donated 3,000 daffodil bulbs to his village of Elstead, Surrey, which were planted by local schoolchildren and volunteers on the church green. Although the flowers bloomed in bright yellow rather than the planned pale cream variety, they were widely praised.
The Rejection: May sought to expand the display to the main Village Green for the following spring, but the council blocked the proposal. Officials cited concerns that the flowers would obstruct traffic sight lines and interfere with the green’s use for community events and pedestrian access.
May’s Reaction: May publicly expressed frustration on Instagram, questioning how 18-inch flower stalks could realistically block a driver’s view, especially when the area is often surrounded by parked vehicles and a seven-foot-high ice cream van. He stated he is “reluctantly” canceling his order for more bulbs.
Council’s Stance: The Elstead Parish Council stated it has a duty to balance community initiatives with safety and accessibility, offering alternative sites for planting that May has not yet accepted“
I hope that the council comes around and show that the village is happy to have an Artist among them who wants to make the environment pretty.
